I was 18. In fact, SiliconFinance.net was the domain. Hence my screen name SiliconFinance. No, I didn't want to finance breast enhancement surgery for young females. I was thinking more along the lines of a venture capital firm that provided capital to young startups. That was before the Internet bubble burst the first time and at a time when all I did was check stocks online. It was the most fascinating thing to a finance major in college especially since you could own your own stock and manage it online. Today, that seems ridiculous, but back then the online stock sites had barely even gotten started.
How old were you and what was the significance of the domain you purchased?

The first domain name I ever purchased was a domain for my uncles law firm. I used it to learn how to build a website, and I wanted someone to benefit from the work if I actually got it to come out right.....
After completing the site and realizing that I could actual build websites, I moved onto www.longislandexchange.com for myself which was inspired by my older brothers ownership of www.80sxchange.com
I figured, if a community web site for people interested in the 80s genre worked, then how about one for the people who live on Long Island.
And that's where it all began. I was 24 years old at the time.

I just bought mine and I am 22 right now. I am really proud of it but I haven't got it set up yet. I set up my first website when I was 13 way back in the day when the internet was friendly and innocent and when my email password could be as short as "ann"
I have been doing all sorts of web design since then and will probably keep going.
