View Full Version : When was www.adsense.com sold to Google?

I was surprised to see that www.adsense.com now redirects to the Google AdSense login screen. That domain pre-dated the Google AdSense program by several years. I believe it was a small consulting business. I recall reading that the owner offered to sell it to Google but Google wasn't interested.
So when did this happen? I'd love to know how much was paid for it.

Coudn't google have named their program something else? Something that wasn't already taken? What kinda silly name is adsense anway?

I actually couldn't think of a better name..... The Ads make Sense out of the content in order to be relivent..... Sounds like a great name to me....

Making sense for you out of ads. That's what Google adsense does. So if you look at it with that in mind, then it is the perfect name.
