Are there domains which are high PR being parked? Would it affect your ranking when it was just being parked? Something like a PR7 or 8?

As far as I know, the effect on your ranking would be basically negligable while your site is being parked. This is especially true for sites with extremely high PR ratings.

My domain that was parked before was newly bought. So it has no traffic or any revenue yet and so it gained some PR2.

So your saying your PR-8 Turned into a PR-2? That would be very useful information because that would be one hell of a drop for any webmaster.

I have a PR 4 website that is just parked but I bought it that way so I really have no clue on how you would bring a park domain to PR 8 or 9 or 10

Nope, I'm just wondering if that happens earning a PR7 just for parking, mine was only PR0 that became PR2.

I don't think domain's can be parked with PR. Not to say a highly PR site can't be parked but if it was then the PR of the site would go down because it would lost all of it's content...Maybe not all the way down due to back links ect. But it would not stay a PR-7 PR-8.

Guess, what? Remember the last time I said I made a program that allows you to look for high PR domain name right? Yea, well I bought a PR 8 domain and parked it, April came and google updated page ranks. My site PR = 0 :( So don't park PR domains.

It is possible that would have happened even if you created a site on it..... Google does something to expired domains and many times they loose there PR and authority soon after they drop.... A small number of domains are not effected, but I'm not sure why these slip through...

DON'T BUY EXPIRED DOMAIN WITH HIGH PAGE RANKS. They loss their page rank when google updates their system, I just experience this last week.

Yea buying expired domain names, I am almost sure the PR changes back to 0 when a domain name expires. Watch out for this in the future. But backlinks/aged with purpose is always good for domains too. Short domains are a key market you may want to get into.

As far as I know PR is determined only by backlinks. Sometimes as you told , will see a parked domain with PR, but you need to make sure the backlinks will stay or you will lose your PR as soon as the backlinks are removed.

The toolbar will still show PR until the next update, but google using internal PR that is updated several times a month - so you can have a domain that looks like it has PR when it really doesn't.

That is why you have to be careful about buying domains bought out of redemption if they don't still have their backlinks.
