From my experince domain name length has a great deal to do with some of the scores you get when a domain name is appraised. Shorter domain name's seem to be alot more money then domain name's with longer names usually tend to have less of a value. I am looking for other opinions on the matter and would greatly value some feedback. Thanks.

I think the size of a domain does matter to some extent.... In my opinion, shorter domains are always better and I would not doubt that search engines like Google would favor them a bit as well....

Never seen any real evidence of this aside from the tools you mention, but it really should play a role somewhere down the line...

I think so as well if you would like to check some of the oldlink pages and see values you will find that this is how it works ;). www.5to4.com a site I purchased is appraised at 188,000$ and was a banner exchange for 7 years. Did the name make it that good or did it being a banner exchange for 7 years do this I am very much pondering on this.

The length of your domain does matter. See the different in my examples below:

searchengineoptimization.com (Awesome domain but hard to remember and type because it is too long)

seo.com (Awesome domain too but easy to remember and type and the letters describe the full meaning)

Depends on what the site is for, if its something that you want users to remember then your best bet is short-and-catchy names. Long names are only good for advertising.

The size of the domain plays a big part in name recognition and popularity, I think.Just imagine if Google had kept a name like Goodlesearchengine or some other weird concoction. It would have been devastating especially in the early days of the internet.

I would always prefer shorter names as they are easy to remember with. Even just abbreviation is great.
