Domain Names are Madening

I am starting some projects with some co-workers of mine, and I just invested 30 minutes of my time attempting to find aa useable relevant domain name that we would use. But this seems impossible, and then I try to purchase names from sedo.co.uk and the price of them are really ridiclous. I am sure alot of people are having this same problem, who knows what can be done about this in the future.
Any suggestions on how to find good domain names even though its a common used word like skateboard.com. Any information would be greatly enjoyed.

Indeed getting good domain names is really madening also most of the cos. provide them at a higher price :(
I am not well experienced in such a field but I have a newbie suggestions that I would like to state, it can be that you already are aware of it.
But I will suggest it anyways :)

Look at the name of the Forum - domainnameforum"z"

Its not much but hope it helps.

I had a tough time finding a domain name for this forum... I couldn't seem to find anything I really liked... I then settled for domainnameforumz with a z....

I only did this for search engine rankings....... The z really isn't me..... I usually dont register names like this, but I took a chance this time...

Because of the domain name, it shoudl rank in the search engines for "domain name forum" sometime in the near future without too much effort, but not real sure about that.
