hi everyone, i have recently made a new site for a friend... its a rehash of their old site (i made the new 1 to be more user friendly)... anyway, the two sites are on two different hosts:
streamline.net (the old one)
and
hosting24.com (the new one.

now my friend wants to keep the domain that is registered with the old site, so i have done what i THINK i have to do to transfere the domain over from the old host to the new host...

i went onto the account for streamline.net and changed the DNS from the streamline ones to the hosting24.com ones... i also added the dedicated IP address to the end of the two hosting24.com ones too... E.G.

i changed the name servers from

ns1.streamline.net to ns1.hosting24.com xx.xxx.xxx.xx

(the x's being the numbers for the ip address).

i then went onto the hosting24.com account and entered the domain name as a pointing domain... i entered it without the www. infront as it said that it would do that automatically, but when i went to the website, it still pointed to the old site, but if i removed the www. from the url, it went to the new one...

i only changed the nameserver an hour ago.... is this the reason that it doesnt point to the new site when www. is infront of it, or have i not transfered the domain over correctly?

The domain ends in .co.uk btw.

Yes - often in the beginning of the nameserver change process one of them www or http:// will begin to resolve first.... This should clear out within a few hours or a day... Sounds like you did it right.
