US Domain name Transfer.!?!

I am not able to purchase a U.S.A. domain name since I am not a citizen of the United States of America. Is is possible for me ask my friend(My friend is a citizen of the United States) to purchase the domain name and then have him transfer the domain I want to me ?? Is this workable ?

I am not really sure about this but I guess it should be legal if there is nothing like this stated in the company's TOS.

Why not ask your friend from US to register it and keep it with himself. Just instruct him to change nameservers when needed or ask him to push etc when needed.
