Yes when you are looking to register a domain name the cheapest is not generally what you want to go for godaddy.com only cost 8.99 per domain name to register site's. And is the leading company out there you might just wanna use them because they are the most trustworthy. But if you really need to go for price. then www.dot5hosting.com hosts domain names as well only 4.95 each but there seems to be a limit of 6 domain names.

http://www.hostmysite.com offers $2.95 per domain only until March 31. I have around 6 domains from them. Their support was quite good as I only order my additional domain by sending them an email and its activated in a few minutes.

It depend, on when you buy it I guess. But here is a tip don't buy it from small reseller because now that the domain selling script are so openly available to anyone, there is a lot of fault on the internet. I recommend, just signing up for a lot of email notification from big domain seller such as GoDaddy.com, MyDomain.com and they usually have monthly offers not open to the public, but you will get an email on it. I know domainlagoon.com gives away free domain for completing surveys but the renewal fee is expensive

But domainlagoon is only available for US residents so not of us can avail of it. I just hope they will offer it worldwide but probably they won't .

I am planning to start a similar service as domain lagoon, and offer it world wide. But the problem is that all of my sponsors don't allow people outside of USA to do the offers. And it will be hard for people outside US to get the points if they are only limited to a couple.

I hope it will be materialized soon with other methods so we can avail of that. I'm always preferring getting free domains.

Would you have any suggestion on what I should offer? I only can think of point systems, and gaining domain prizes after points limit have been reached. Aww, man I don't have a job but I am working on so many different sites....

I don't think trying to go with cheap is the best idea. I have cheep hosting but now have so many site's I have had to get a dedicated server sure it's a little more costly but at least then you never get CPU error because your web ring has used to much room...But they do charge you more if you outgrow your CPU of your dedicated server.

Yahoo is probably the cheapest. They offer you domain reg for just $2.xx but remember you can never change registrar if you register with Yahoo.

I believe in quality more than price though :)

I'm wondering, even if its already expired in yahoo, you still can't transfer it to another registrar after a year? if thats the case then I would not get a domain from them.

I think you got it wrong. If you register a domain with Yahoo, you can only renew it at yahoo and can not transfer it to other registrar but if it gets expire you can register it again at another registrar but there is lots of risk involved because after expiration it is highly possible that someone else grabs your valuable name.

Oh thats not good then. How about you, did you purchase some domain from them?

If I were you I would more than likely go with the most popular company. As said above in other post Godaddy would be your best bet.

There are a lot of cheap domain registrars. If you are in need of hosting as well, your best bet would be to search for a hosting provider with free domain registration (again, there are a lot of those).

Otherwise, I've heard that Yahoo are selling domains for $4.95 or smth, but haven't yet tried `em. I have all my domains hosted on Godaddy ..

I think godaddy is the best. You may be able to find some other cheaper ones. But service won't be any where near what godaddy offers.
